Start a blog today

If you’re just getting started with blogging, this article will provide an overview of what’s involved with each step so that you can choose which one(s) are right for you and get started today!

Step 1. Choose your blog topic to Start a blog today

Once you’ve decided to start blogging, it’s time to get more specific. A lot of people think they can write about anything, but that's far from true. You have to be interested in what you're writing about and you should also choose something that's unique enough so there isn't already too much competition out there.

It's much easier to attract readers when your niche is narrow and interesting; when it comes down to it, who cares about yet another blogging for beginners guide? So narrow your focus down until you find something worthwhile or make sure you have an awesome angle on a popular topic. And before we go any further, be aware that blogging often requires very specific skills beyond writing, which is why our second step is so important...

Step 2. Create an account with your preferred platform

A common misconception is that you need to own your own domain and server to start a blogging platform.

This isn’t necessarily true; some of the most well-known platforms require neither of these things. For example, you can simply create an account with either WordPress or Medium no cost involved (other than regular hosting fees if your website gets heavy traffic).

If you do want to purchase your own domain name and host, both options are relatively inexpensive just be sure to set aside about $30–50 per year for it. Once signed up, log in and set up your homepage.

You should include at least one bio or photo as long as it’s something representative of who you are or what type of content will appear on your website!

Step 3. Choose your domain name

Choosing your domain name is an important first step. A great domain name should have some relationship to your brand or topic, and ideally be short, memorable, and simple to spell and type. For example, if you make fashion accessories using paracord, then you could choose something like ParacordLove or Paracords4U as your domain name. You can also check out Fiverr and Upwork where there are many great copywriters who will help you with creating a nice domain name that matches perfectly with your content. You can start a blog by choosing a domain from Bluehost.

Step 4. Setup hosting and install WordPress

Once you know what domain name you want, you’ll need to sign up with a web hosting service. There are many good options out there, but if your budget is limited we recommend choosing Bluehost. Our team has worked extensively with them and they’re reliable, fast and provide friendly 24/7 support.

Once your hosting is setup, all that’s left to do is install WordPress (which only takes about 5 minutes). You can watch our video tutorial showing how to do everything from step 1 to step 4 in just 5 minutes (including WordPress installation).

Step 5. Come up with a draft of your first post

Do you have a plan to start? Do you need help with content creation, SEO or blogging tips? You'll find all those questions and more in our comprehensive start a blog guide.

Follow these steps to make sure you don't miss any essentials. Remember, even if your ultimate goal is to land in that dream job at NASA or create an international following of loyal readers, it's still important to start small.

When starting out, focus on building one solid post at a time so that you can get comfortable writing quickly and accurately. After all, how do you know how much people will love your writing if no one is reading it? Your first few posts are your first impression; set yourself up for success by making them great!

Step 6. Write your first post and check it for errors

Once you’ve selected your subject, it’s time to write your first post. Before you do that, though, make sure you check it carefully for grammar and spelling errors. Use Grammarly if necessary. Then it’s ready to be published on your site! Be sure to use an original title as well as an original description (the blurb under your post). If you need help with these, use our guide to writing great headlines.

Step 7. Design your website using Wordpress theme

Now that you’ve set up your website and published some content, it’s time to make it look more appealing. There are many Wordpress themes available; however, I suggest using FoundationPress.

It’s an SEO-optimized theme with many features that make it ideal for first-time bloggers. You can learn more about how to use FoundationPress here. If you have no experience designing websites, consider hiring someone on Fiverr or Upwork to do it for you.

You can find cheap freelancers who will be able to design your site in less than 24 hours! Keep in mind that having a professional looking site is critical if you want people to take your business seriously. For instance, if your site looks unprofessional then people will assume that they won’t get good results from working with you either.

The most important thing is getting started! Don't wait any longer before making money online!

Step 8. Design or get design for graphics for your website

Design is another crucial element of blogging that can make or break a site. Most free blogging platforms like WordPress and Tumblr provide basic themes, but if you want to customize your site (and really stand out from all of those other blogs) you’ll need to hire someone or learn how to design your own graphics.

Fortunately, there are lots of resources out there for wannabe designers who want their new sites to have some extra pop this list at Petite Alma is especially helpful

Step 9. Sign up with platforms to promote your content

There are several platforms, like Medium and LinkedIn, that allow you to create an account and write posts. The main purpose of these sites is for publishers and brands to push out their own content but it is also a good place to promote your business.

Think of it as another social media platform that doesn’t really have any other purpose than promoting others' products or content. Just make sure you choose who you want to target so that your content can be relevant to them. When people read your posts, they will know what type of product or service you are offering even if they are not specifically mentioned in your post. So sign up with these platforms and start promoting your business on them now!

Step 10. Promote yourself on social media, forums and other websites

Promoting your own content is an important part of making your new blog successful. Focus on getting traffic from social media, forums and other websites that are relevant to your niche. And don't be afraid to ask others if they'd like to share it with their followers as well!

That's how you grow your network as quickly as possible. Build relationships with influencers in your industry: Influencers can help get you more exposure by sharing your content or even interviewing you about what you do. Reach out to people who are already popular in your industry and offer them free access to something in exchange for letting them know about it (you'll have to find something valuable first).

You can also reach out to bloggers or journalists who might want information about what you're doing; just make sure that when you email them, you include links back to all of your online profiles so they can learn more about who you are.

Start developing relationships with potential customers: If there aren't any blogs related to yours yet, start reaching out via email or social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook instead.
